Vacations

DSC_0341-EFFECTS

I wonder if it is normal to go into a “vacation mode” when you are, well, on vacation. To disconnect. No emails (no, not from work either), no work issues, no pet projects, and even online courses.

One side of it is that you rest and relax. It’s quiet. In your head, I mean. You can be a vegetable slowly burning your sides in the sun, or an adrenaline junkie skiing downhill raising snow dust. Anyway – you don’t have that dialog in your head that you always have otherwise; there are no decisions to make except for choosing a dinner place, and you are free.

The other side is that it’s time you could really spend with more use. You could improve yourself, you could learn something new, or start something new, or finish something old (but you haven’t and probably won’t). So… should you beat yourself up?

I have no answer. We just have one life.
